Bye, Bye Blackberry Storm

Dear Storm,

Our time was short. Wish it would've worked out. But you cramped my style. I became less social and less productive work-wise during our couple of weeks together. You look super cool and invoked interesting conversations with strangers (who knew cell phones brought people together?), but I dreaded using you anytime I needed to email or text. Touch screens and I just don't mesh. Maybe it's the finger nails. Maybe it's the speed I'm used to typing at. Oh, and you made answering calls embarrassing. For some reason your "answer" button doesn't work consistently.

Hope you find a new owner that better appreciates you. I secretly disliked you (actually, openly disliked you. Sorry).

Good luck to you,
RR

PS - I took this picture with my shiny, new Curve that I already like better!

Cole ditches CFP SF for BSSP

Big week for Cole. He went to BSSP with John for the first time on Tuesday. It went well. So well, that he got to go back today, and from the looks of things, I think he likes it there.

It's a bigger office space, so there's more room to walk around than our 500 sq feet studio.

They've got a lot more employees than just the two of us, so more opportunities for falling food.

Better opportunity to meet people. The girls love him.

And it's not boiling hot from the hours of 11-4 everyday.

So, I get it. I can see why Cole ditched me. Our time as BOMFs (Best Office Mates Forever) was short but sweet.

See for yourself.

It's January and I'm sweating...

But I'm certainly not complaining. Just got back from walking to Whole Foods/Paycheck. It's in the high 60s/low 70s and sunny this week. Gorgeous out.  I should have brought my shorts and more tanks as its' supposed to be like this all week! Yippy!  Cole and I will definitely be out walking this week and hitting the dog park that is a block away from our apartment. So far, Cole hasn't made any friend yet, but there is a sweet little springer spaniel, that looks a lot like his CO BFF, Rusty, that we've got our eyes on.   Stay tuned...

I am a big fan of Hawaiian BBQ (love, love, love macaroni salad) and am acquiring a taste for Korean BBQ, as well.  There is a Korean restaurant two blocks from our apartment on Polk Street and we've already been there twice.  Last night I had bi-bim-bap with pork for the second time ever! Our friend Colin, who is Korean, introduced it to me back in NYC.  It's a popular Korean dish that includes beef, rice, spinach, sprouts, an egg and a whole bunch of other stuff that is a mystery to me. It's served in a big pot, and you stir it up and throw in some hot sauce and it's absolutely delightful.  Here's a picture of mine from last night. I got the "sizzling" version.

First Bike Ride

Today we got up early and went on our first official bike ride together.  Here's me on my new Dolce Elite Gloss Red Road Bike.  Pretty sharp, I must say.  We rode from John's office in Sausalito for about 4 miles to Mill Valley and back.   Our ride took us through the streets of Sausalito and a bike trail along the bay towards Mill Valley.  Not a long ride as we just wanted to make sure my seat is positioned in the right place, and I could get comfortable shifting gears.  It ended up being a gorgeous day, and I managed not to fall, but I did almost take out a 12-year old at one of the stop lights on our way back.  The best part about it, her mom said sorry to me!   We ended the ride treating ourselves to a pasta lunch at Pasta Pomodoro in Mill Valley next to Jay the Realtor's office.  It was hard to fight the urge to go to In-N-Out, our usual pre-Jay stop, as John is on a "I need to lose weight" kick.

San Francisco Adventures

Our first full week in San Francisco came to a close last night.  I have to say it's been one of our better first weeks moving to a new place.  We've managed to find the Whole Foods (after spending $115 on groceries yesterday, the checker asked me if my groceries were for "here or to-go."  I thought that was odd.  Do people on the West Coast live at Whole Foods, too???), the dog park, the Starbucks and two really nice realtors to help us on our home search.  We've also had dinner with our friends Will and Christine.  Will works in advertising and Christine is a lawyer.  They are having a baby boy in May.  Oh yeah, and we had an awesome visit with Uncle Eric and got to meet my Great-Uncle's wife, Aunt Eva who lives in Fairfax.  We love Uncle E and it was great to get to spend some time with him when we first got here. It was a fantastic California Welcome, I must say!

Too, I managed to get in a good routine working from home. Waking up by 7, getting dressed (this step is key) and hopping on the phone typically at 8:30 with my co-workers on the east coast. I have to say, Cole is the most awesome co-worker ever!  He doesn't talk too loud, gossip or interrupt me, ever. So, all in all, CFP San Francisco is shaping up nicely. The picture says it all....  That's us in our new digs.
