Big Day!

We had a picnic dinner in the park by our house last night. Nothing fancy. Just leftovers and we ate out of tupperware.  We sat on the top of the hill overlooking the Marina and the Bay. It was a beautiful night.  I made John take a picture of me and Cole at the top of the stairs, so we could remember it forever. We're so happy here. And yesterday was a good day for all of the us!

The Big Donut Temptation

I had a bite of a donut today at church. I think that means I broke my Lenten fast.  It was so good. Maple glaze. I went back for a second bite, but then John caught me. I ended up giving it to him. I rationalized it as "breakfast food, " so technically it wasn't a "sweet."  But John didn't agree. I think he's right.  I've definitely reflected a lot on the sacrifice Jesus made for me on the cross during this Lenten season, but it hasn't made my temptation for sweets any easier.  Only two weeks to go. I guess I should have rethought this one once I realized my birthday falls during Lent. What was I thinking? A birthday without cake?  Let alone MINE! I'm the Queen of Sweets! I'm thinking a little birthday cake action will be in order when I get to San Diego for Easter?  Hint...hint!

Mom's Visit

Mom came to visit us last weekend and we couldn't have asked for a more perfect weekend.  She flew all by herself from St. Louis!  Friday we took the ferry over to Sausalito and met John for dinner at Spinnakers.  Saturday we went shopping in Marin, dinner at Amici's (New Haven style pizza) and Sunday John made us breakfast before we went to church and heard an amazing sermon on "Sloth" (we're doing a Seven Deadly Sins series). Afterwards we went back to Marin to visit Aunt Eva and then ran some errands.  All in all it was a fantastic visit.

Here are some pictures. A few from the marina over in Sausalito, at dinner on Saturday night and before breakfast on Sunday in our apartment.
