Me and My Girl

I don't do it purposefully, but often times i find that I put me and Ellie in matching outfits. Kind of funny.

Sonoma Saturday

Sarah was in town this weekend and she and I and Aimee and Tom went to Sonoma for the day. It was great to have all of us from Chicago together again. It was a big day for all of us - Aimee and Tom's first trip as CA residents (Yay!), me pumping and dumping for the first time, and John watching Ellie for the morning. And Sarah is a total rockstar - she took the red eye home Saturday night to make it the Bengals game this morning!

We loved having Sarah here with us. We went out to eat, went to the mall, took walks, and she got to spend a lot of time with Ellie. I called her my little Baby Whisperer this weekend - she rocked Ellie, changed her diaper, played with her, got her back to sleep so I could get some sleep Friday night and so much more. It was awesome. I don't think I carried the carseat the entire time. Thanks Sarah. We love you!

Ellie's First Football Game

Last Friday we took Ellie to see the San Rafael Bulldog's home opener. She loved it. Especially the cheerleaders and their sparkly pom poms.

Reid Ribfest 2010

John cooked up a ton of ribs in four different flavors for our friends on Saturday. I think I'm still full... :-)

I love living by water

I figured out something about myself when I was in my mid-20s, and it's that I am at my happiest when I'm near water. I love the mountains, I love hiking in the woods, the excitement of the city, and a killer shopping mall but it's near the water that I am the most at peace. I think it's because I'm an Aries, a fire sign, and that I need water to cool me down. Or maybe because it reminds me of getting away to Mark Twain Lake with my dad on his boat growing up in St. Louis.Anyway, It's one of my favorite things about living here. So, it was much to my delight when John mentioned that he wanted to take a walk near the canal Monday night, the night before his first day at his new job. It was a nice way to transition from his week off, a busy weekend packed with visiting with friends, going to church and doing stuff around the house.

Babies and Shelties

Aimee, Tom, Sophie, Edie and Guinness just moved here from Chicago and St. Louis last week, and we had them over today. It's still just hitting me that one of my oldest and greatest friends LIVES here now! We are SO happy that they are here. And we got to meet Sophie for the first time, and Cole and Guinness reunited.

New Discovery

Ellie has always been quite the thumb sucker and lately she has a new trick...putting all three of her middle fingers in her mouth. I have to admit, I think it's kinda of cute.

Point Reyes

John took the week off before he starts his new job at Isobar, so we drove to Point Reyes on Thursday. Ellie slept the entire way there and woke up just in time to make the walk to the Lighthouse and up and down 300 stairs. John carried her in the Baby Bjorn the entire way. The views are really incredible making the drive there and the walk worth it.
