I figured out something about myself when I was in my mid-20s, and it's that I am at my happiest when I'm near water. I love the mountains, I love hiking in the woods, the excitement of the city, and a killer shopping mall but it's near the water that I am the most at peace. I think it's because I'm an Aries, a fire sign, and that I need water to cool me down. Or maybe because it reminds me of getting away to Mark Twain Lake with my dad on his boat growing up in St. Louis.Anyway, It's one of my favorite things about living here. So, it was much to my delight when John mentioned that he wanted to take a walk near the canal Monday night, the night before his first day at his new job. It was a nice way to transition from his week off, a busy weekend packed with visiting with friends, going to church and doing stuff around the house.
I started this blog in early 2009 as a way to easily keep our families and friends updated on our lives since settling in the Bay Area. Between the ups and downs of renovating our home in San Rafael, raising our daughter, Ellie Elizabeth, and having fun with family and friends, we hope you enjoy following what we are up to as much as I enjoy documenting it.
